The Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) is the most versatile and widely deployed 8×8 combat vehicle in the world. Available in numerous configurations and weight classes, this battle-tested platform serves as a cornerstone for forces around the globe.
LAV II
The LAV II is a highly versatile and adaptable 8×8 platform that continues to be widely used by armed forces around the world. A lightweight, compact and modular platform, the LAV II has been produced in multiple configurations, including amphibious variants currently operated by the U.S. Marine Corps, the Australian Army and the Peruvian Navy.
The LAV II offers high speed on roads, off-road maneuverability, and a range of armor and lethality options, including a turret-mounted 25mm M242 Bushmaster chain gun, a mounted mortar and ATGM variants. In its amphibious configuration, the LAV II provides strategic maneuver and strike capability for littoral operations.
LAV III
The basis for the highly successful Stryker family of vehicles, the LAV III is renowned for its balance of mobility, protection and firepower. It is capable of accomplishing a wide range of missions, from peacekeeping to high-intensity combat operations. A versatile medium-weight armored vehicle, the LAV III has proved its effectiveness in extensive operational deployments.
The LAV III operates effectively in diverse environments, including urban areas, deserts and rugged terrain. It is highly reliable and easily maintainable, providing low operating costs and class-leading operational readiness rates.
Available with a Double-V Hull for enhanced protection, the LAV III provides protected mobility for its crew and dismounts. The LAV III is a valuable asset for modern military forces and is able to be fitted with a variety of lethality systems and advanced fire control systems.
LAV 6.0
The LAV 6.0 is an advanced, highly mobile, versatile family of vehicles providing a balance of protection, mobility and lethality to meet the challenges of modern warfare. The primary combat vehicle of the Canadian Armed Forces, the LAV 6.0 is designed to operate in a wide range of environments, from urban combat to rugged terrains, making it suitable for domestic and international missions.
Significant features include a Double-V Hull for enhanced protection, a 25mm turret-mounted cannon for battlefield lethality, and a 450hp powerpack and advanced suspension for superior mobility.
Based on the LAV 6.0 platform, the Armoured Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV) is a modern multirole armored vehicle sharing many of the LAV 6.0’s advanced features in mobility, protection and modularity. The ACSV is designed to provide robust support capabilities to front-line combat units, ensuring they have the logistical, medical and operational support needed in demanding environments.
LAV 700
The LAV 700 features state-of-the-art digital command and control architecture, including health and usage monitoring systems. The self-sealing fuel tanks, energy attenuating seats, add-on armour and scalable ballistic protection add to the increased survivability of the General Dynamics Land Systems double-VTM hull.
A high-performance driveline and suspension and all-wheel disc brakes are combined with a twin turbo Caterpillar engine, a seven-speed automatic transmission and a cooling system designed for continuous operation in the most extreme climates. This integrated unit can be removed and replaced in well under an hour, even in austere conditions.
All these features are integrated with exceptional attention to detail, fit and finish in a high-capacity chassis rated for more than 32,000 kg. The result is a technologically advanced LAV, with speeds exceeding 110 km/h and a range in excess of 1000 km. Trench crossing capability is greater than 2.2 m and its payload is 11,000 kg.
Like all General Dynamics Land Systems LAVs, the LAV 700 is available in a full range of mission configurations, including: personnel carrier; command and control; direct and indirect fire support incorporating 30 mm and 40 mm weapon systems as well as turreted mortars and assault guns; anti-tank; security, reconnaissance and surveillance; ambulance; and repair and recovery.
