- GENERAL DYNAMICS NAMES VEITCH SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT,
COMBAT SYSTEMS GROUP, HALL TO LAND SYSTEMS PRESIDENT -
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - Arthur J. Veitch has been named senior vice president of General Dynamics responsible for the Combat Systems group which includes the company's Land Systems and Armament Systems subsidiaries. Replacing Veitch is Charles M. Hall, who has been appointed a vice president of General Dynamics and president of General Dynamics Land Systems.
Veitch, 53, served as president of Land Systems and a vice president of General Dynamics since February 1997. He joined General Dynamics in 1967 and spent most of his career in the Convair Division in San Diego, California. At Convair, Veitch held a number of increasingly responsible positions including director of estimating, assistant program manager for Tomahawk cruise missiles, vice president-contracts and estimating, and vice president and program director for the MD-11 jetliner and other aircraft programs. He was general manager of Convair from 1992 until that business closed in 1995. That year, he was named senior operating officer for Land Systems.
Veitch holds a bachelor's degree in industrial management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a master's degree in business administration from Boston College.
Hall, 48, had been Land Systems vice president production and delivery since July 1997. He began his career in 1971 as a machinist with Chrysler Corporation and quickly rose through the management ranks. He served in several supervisory positions before becoming manager of Chrysler's Sterling Electronics and Optical Manufacturing plant in 1983. In 1986, Hall served as plant manager of the arsenal tank plant in Warren, Michigan. He then became plant manager of the Lima Army Tank Plant in Lima, Ohio. In 1990, Hall became Land Systems' vice president - manufacturing. He has a bachelor's degree in business from Western Michigan University and a master's degree in business management from Central Michigan University.
