- General Dynamics Land Systems Appoints Sridharan Vice
President, Propulsion Systems Center -
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - General Dynamics Land Systems has appointed Dr. N.S. Sridharan (Sridhar) vice president, Propulsion Systems Center, located in Muskegon, Michigan. In this position Sridharan is responsible for the business development, engineering development, production, and support of engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and integrated propulsion systems for combat vehicles worldwide.
Sridharan joined Land Systems and its Research and Engineering organization in 1983. Since then, he has held positions of increasing responsibility in engineering and program management. Past assignments include Director, Structure and Design; Director, Derivative Vehicles; Director, Advanced Programs; Director Mobility Systems and Advanced Concepts; and, his most recent position was Director, Propulsion Systems Center.
Prior to joining Land Systems, Sridharan was Manager for Composites and Advanced Materials at the International Harvester Company, Chicago, Illinois.
Sridharan has a number of technical presentations and publications on combat vehicle design, armor design and processing, and composite materials. He holds patents on metallic and ceramic composite armor. Sridharan has served on special panels for the NATO Industrial Advisory Group and the Army Basic Research Committee of the National Research Council.
He holds a Master Degree and a Ph. D. in Materials Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Sridharan earned his undergraduate degree in Metallurgy at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India. He, his wife, Susan, and their two children reside in Norton Shores, Michigan.
