APPOINTS MCVEY VICE PRESIDENT, REAPPOINTS THREE OTHERS -
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - General Dynamics Land Systems has appointed Peter M. McVey vice president - International Tank Programs. He will head all international tank business activities including the Middle East and Far East programs.
McVey, 63, joined General Dynamics Land Systems in 1996 as director - NATO Programs, pursuing main battle tank and ancillary equipment sales in Greece and Turkey. He retired as a U.S. Army major general in 1993 and had last served as the Army's Program Executive Officer for Armored Systems Modernization. In that assignment, he was responsible for the development, testing, production and fielding of the M1 Abrams tank system, Bradley Fighting Vehicle, Armored Gun System, and the M1-based Breacher and Heavy Assault Bridge programs. He was a self-employed consultant with Cambridge International, Inc. in Arlington, Va., prior to joining General Dynamics. He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from St. John's University and a master's degree in Behavioral Science from Newark State College.
In related moves, three vice presidents will change positions within General Dynamics Land Systems organization.
Paul E. Funk, currently vice president - Middle East Operations, will become vice president - Customer Service and Support at General Dynamics Land Systems headquarters. He will be responsible for domestic and international after-market support programs. He has directed Middle East Operations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia since joining the company in 1996.
Simon T. Honess, currently vice president - Business Planning, is reassigned as president of AV Technology, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics Land Systems, in Shelby Township, Michigan. He will be responsible for the business development, production and support for wheeled police and combat vehicle programs. He will remain a vice president of General Dynamics Land Systems.
Thomas S. Wied, currently vice president - Customer Service and Support, will become vice president - Business Planning and Alliances. Wied will be responsible for the company's strategic and long-term planning and resource management. He also will be responsible for overseeing international business offset and industrial cooperation programs, as well as the development of business alliances and international partnerships on future programs.
