- PRODUCT SUPPORT AND SERVICES COMPANY RENAMED -

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – General Dynamics Land Systems Product Support and Services Company was renamed General Dynamics Land Systems Customer Service & Support Company July 23, 1998.

"The new name is a better reflection of our business emphasis," said Thomas S. Wied, General Dynamics Land Systems vice president, Customer Service & Support. "We’re focused on helping our customers make the best and most cost effective use of their equipment - - whatever the product mix might be."

Wied explained that the company was formed in 1993 to support the Abrams tanks sold to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. "But we’ve moved far beyond just supporting our own products," said Wied. "Today, we’re providing training, logistics services, technical support, depot operations, and manufacturing services worldwide. We intend to compete alone or with partners in the military logistics service market."

General Dynamics Land Systems Customer Service & Support Company is headquartered in Sterling Heights, Michigan. It has 300 employees at 15 locations in the U.S. and in three countries overseas. It is performing logistics services for the Governments of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt; upgrading and maintaining the Fox nuclear, biological, and chemical reconnaissance vehicle at Anniston Army Depot in Alabama; and training American soldiers on the M1A2 tank at Fort Carson, Colorado.
