STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. -- General Dynamics Land Systems has initiated a study that may result in the relocation of 16 Accounts Payable jobs at the Lima Army Tank Plant. "The study is part of an ongoing effort to re-engineer all aspects of Land Systems' business to remove unnecessary costs," said Steven C. Potts, General Dynamics Land Systems Vice President and Controller. "We must continually strive to provide our customers the most affordable product possible to remain competitive in our global market."
The study is evaluating whether it is more cost effective to continue the Accounts Payable function at the Lima Army Tank Plant or relocate to another Land Systems facility. Land Systems facilities that are candidates for the jobs include Muskegon Operations in Muskegon, Michigan; Imperial Valley Operations in Imperial, California; and Tallahassee Operations in Tallahassee, Florida.
Results of the study will be presented to Land Systems' senior management this December. If the recommendation is to move the jobs, the relocation could occur by the end of the first quarter of 1997.
General Dynamics Land Systems is a world leader in the development, production, integration, and support of armor vehicles and electronic systems.
