- GENERAL DYNAMICS LAND SYSTEMS APPOINTS SANDBERG PROGRAM DIRECTOR, RISK MANAGEMENT, BRIGADE COMMBAT TEAM -

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - General Dynamics Land Systems has appointed Theodore K. (Ken) Sandberg to the position of program director, Risk Management, for the Brigade Combat Team.

Sandberg, who has a PhD in mechanical engineering science from Wayne State University, will be assigned to the General Motors, General Dynamics Land Systems (GM/GDLS) Defense Group, LLC.

He will be responsible for risk identification, impact to program cost, schedule and performance, and the development, implementation and execution of mitigation plans. He will have the primary interface responsibility with the government program management office for all risk identification and risk mitigation plan discussions.

Sandberg also will assess risk as it affects the overall program schedule, ensuring that all program schedules are current and accurate, and monitoring program performance in accordance with the prime contract objectives. He will perform the lead role in all Integrated Process Team (IPT) activities associated with risk management and schedule reviews including abatement and mitigation plans.

Sandberg brings over 40 years of engineering and program management experience to this position including his most recent assignment leading the proposal effort for the Future Combat Systems Phase II selection process. He has previously held progressively responsible engineering positions including Abrams evolution engineering program manager, chief project engineer, common chassis, and lead engineer, Interim Armored Vehicle (IAV) proposal.
