  • General Dynamics Land Systems Appoints Wosina Vice President Amphibious Systems (November 10, 1999)
    • General Dynamics Land Systems has appointed John W. Wosina vice president Amphibious Systems, located in Woodbridge, Virginia. In this position Wosina will be responsible for completing the design and development phase of the United States Marine Corps Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAAV) program, and for leading the program through engineering, manufacturing development, production transition, and full scale production. He will also be responsible for expanding the AAAV Technology Center business base.

  • General Dynamics Awarded Service Support Contract By U.S. Army Tank-Automotive And Armaments Command (September 24, 1999)
    • The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems Customer Service and Support a 13 month, $4.7 million base contract to provide logistics support for the M1A2 tank, M1A2 SEP tank, and Wolverine Heavy Assault Bridge at Fort Hood and other locations.

  • General Dynamics Names Veitch Senior Vice President, Combat Systems Group, Hall To Land Systems President (September 17, 1999)
    • Arthur J. Veitch has been named senior vice president of General Dynamics responsible for the Combat Systems group which includes the company's Land Systems and Armament Systems subsidiaries. Replacing Veitch is Charles M. Hall, who has been appointed a vice president of General Dynamics and president of General Dynamics Land Systems.

    • General Dynamics Land Systems, Inc. (GDLS) has completed its acquisition of F&M Manufacturing, Inc. (F&M) for $28 million in cash (previously reported at $31 million). The acquisition was treated as an asset purchase.

    • General Dynamics Land Systems has appointed C. Raymond Shaw director of Business Acquisition for Advanced Programs in its Washington, D.C. office. Shaw's responsibilities in this position include providing program support to the customer, the United States Marine Corps and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA); creating new opportunities for related business; oversight of the Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Targeting Vehicle (RSTV), the National Automotive Center 8x8 Program, and the Low Profile Turret for the Canadian Armoured Combat Vehicle Program; and new business development in the area of hybrid electric vehicles.

    • General Dynamics Land Systems has appointed Dr. N.S. Sridharan (Sridhar) vice president, Propulsion Systems Center, located in Muskegon, Michigan. In this position Sridharan is responsible for the business development, engineering development, production, and support of engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and integrated propulsion systems for combat vehicles worldwide.

  • Wolverine Completes Contractor Testing (July 31, 1999)
    • General Dynamics Land Systems has completed contractor testing of the Wolverine Heavy Assault Bridge (HAB). Tests conducted included bridge launches and retrievals, limited mobility, and bridge durability.

  • General Dynamics Land Systems Acquires F&M Manufacturing, Inc. (July 22, 1999)
    • General Dynamics Land Systems, Inc. (GDLS) and F&M Manufacturing, Inc. (F&M) announced today that they have entered into a definitive agreement for GDLS to purchase F&M for $31 million in cash.

  • General Dynamics To Add Employees (July 12, 1999)
    • Today General Dynamics Land Systems announced a plan to increase its work force at Eynon, Pennsylvania, by up to 150 employees with the activation of a new production line in 2004.

  • Second AAAV Prototype Hull Delivered To Marines (June 24, 1999)
    • Today General Dynamics Land Systems delivered the second Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAAV) prototype hull structure to the AAAV Technology Center in Woodbridge, Virginia.

  • Team Crusader Completes First Crusader Prototype (June 17, 1999)

      Today Team Crusader completed the Crusader Mobility Test Bed - - the first of four Program Definition and Risk Reduction (PD/RR) prototypes which will be used for performance and reliability testing of the drive train and running gear.

  • Vickers Defense Systems And General Dynamics Land Systems Form Joint Venture Company (May 19, 1999)
    • Vickers Defence Systems (VDS) and General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) announced today that they will form a joint venture company, Vehicle Armour and Armament Ltd (VAA Ltd), to progress work on the stealth reconnaissance TRACER/FSCS program. Both companies are key members of the SIKA International consortium, established by British Aerospace and Lockheed Martin to compete for the multi billion dollar TRACER/FSCS program. SIKA was awarded a 3½ year development contract worth $146.6 million in January 1999.

  • AV Technology Awarded Armored Ground Mobility System (AGMS) Contract (March 29, 1999)
    • US Army TACOM has awarded a contract for Pandur 6 x 6 vehicles to AV Technology, a General Dynamics company. The vehicles will be manufactured in their Shelby Township facility by the current staff. AV Technology is currently producing the Pandur for the Kuwait National Guard. Pandur is also in production and/or in service in Austria, Belgium and Slovenia.

  • General Dynamics Wins Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Targeting Vehicle (RST-V) Demonstrator Contract (January 22, 1999)
    • General Dynamics Land Systems was notified by the Naval Surface Warfare Center's Carderock Division that it has won the RST-V Phase II downselect to build four "Demonstrator" vehicles. The RST-V advanced technology demonstration program is jointly sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
