General Dynamics Awarded $6 Million for Fox NBCRS Work
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – The U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), a $6 million contract to provide integrated logistics support for the Fox Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Reconnaissance System upgrade program. Under the contract, General Dynamics will update Fox NBCRS vehicle technical manuals to reflect upgrades to the M93A1P1 configuration. In August 2007, General Dynamics received a $56 million contract to upgrade 14 M93 and four M93A1 Fox NBCRS vehicles to the M93A1P1 configuration. The most updated Fox configuration, the M93A1P1 includes slat armor, armor protection against improvised explosive devices and accommodations for the Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station. The Fox is used by the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. It can identify contamination in its immediate environment and at distances of up to three miles with a stand-off detector.
Work will be performed in Sterling Heights, Mich., by existing General Dynamics employees.
