MK46 NAVAL PLATFORM
The MK46 30mm Naval Weapon System is an all-weather, day/night, fully stabilized weapon system. The gun system’s open architecture software supports stand-alone and integrated variants. The MK46’s lightweight, modular and compact size make it an ideal candidate for numerous anti-surface and anti-air defense applications. The MK46 Naval Weapon System’s family of turrets represents a balance of lethality, performance, reliability and versatility in one of the most cost-effective, medium-caliber weapon systems in the world today. MK46 30mm Naval Weapon System family is based on the turreted armament system developed for the USMC’s Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV). The EFV’s MK46 Mod 0 system consists of a two- man armored turret containing all weather, day/night, full solution, fully stabilized, digital fire control system. MK46 Mod 2 30mm Naval Weapon System has been in production for nearly a decade and is the main deck gun for the U.S. Navy’s San Antonio Class (LPD-17) ship. Additionally, the MK46 Mod 2 was selected by the U.S. Navy as a secondary gun battery for Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Class ships. While functionally equivalent to the EFV’s MK46 turret, the Mod 2 is remotely operated and can be configured as a stand-alone weapons system or integrated for use with a ship’s Combat Management System (CMS).
